Removing
NOTE: Align the front wheels to the "straight ahead".
1. Disconnect the wire "masses" from the battery. For more information, see the chapter: Disconnecting and connecting the battery (414-01 Battery, Battery Mount and Wires, General Procedures).
2. Remove the control panel.

3. Remove the case of the lock of a steering column and the ignition switch.
For more information, see chapter: Steering column lock and ignition switch housing (211-05 Steering column switches, Removal and installation).
4. Disconnect the central electrical box (CJB) from the barrier.
- Loosen 4 nuts.
5. Disconnect a steering column.
- Turn out a bolt.
6. Remove the brake pedal and bracket.

7. Disconnect the steering column from the lower shaft.
- Mark the mutual position of the shafts.
- Loosen and discard the bolt.
8. Disconnect the steering column from the car body.
- Turn out two bolts.
9. Disconnect the heater controller and bracket. Turn out two bolts.
10. Remove the upper steering column support bracket.
- Turn out 4 bolts.
- Gather the rubber strips around the steering column shaft.
11. Remove the steering column from the lower shaft of the steering column.
12. Disconnect the main steering column support bracket.
- Turn out a bolt.

NOTE: The steering column must be positioned so that it passes through the opening in the bulkhead.
Remove the steering column.
Installation
CAUTION: Care must be taken when installing the steering column on the lower steering column shaft, otherwise the lower steering column shaft may be damaged.
1. Replace the elements in reverse order.
- Tighten to 22 Nm.
2. Tighten to 22 Nm.
3. Remove the steering column top support bracket.
- Tighten M6 bolts (tightening torque 9 Nm).
- Tighten M8 bolts (tightening torque 22 Nm).
4. Tighten to 22 Nm.

NOTE: Install new bolt.
Tighten to 30 Nm.
6. Tighten to 48 Nm.
7. Connect the wire "masses" to the battery.
