Removing
1. Center the steering wheel.
- Lock the position, remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Loosen the upper bolt of the lower shaft of the steering column.
3. Disconnect the bottom shaft of a steering column from the steering mechanism.
- Turn out the bottom bolt of the lower shaft of a steering column.

Caveats:
- If the power steering fluid gets on the paintwork, the contaminated area should be washed immediately with cold water.
- Before disconnecting or removing components, clean the areas around the hinges and joints. Plug all open connections to avoid contamination of the system.
Disconnect the power steering return hose (PAS) from the steering gear.
- Place a suitable container to collect spilled power steering fluid.

Disconnect the PAS supply line from the steering gear.

WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle standing on only one jack. Always support the vehicle with jack stands.
Raise the car and place stands under it.
7. Remove the diagonal rod.
- Turn out two bolts with two nuts of diagonal draft.
- Discard the two nuts of the diagonal rod.

CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the protective boot of the ball joint. Damage to the protective cover leads to premature failure of the ball joint.
Using the special tool, disconnect the tie rod from the steering arm.
- Remove the pin.
- Turn away a nut of connection of longitudinal steering draft with a steering bipod.
9. Remove the tie rod.
10. With assistance, remove the steering gear.
- Loosen 2 lock washers.
- Remove and discard 4 steering gear bolts.
- Remove and discard 2 lock washers.

NOTE: When installing a remanufactured steering gear, follow steps 12, 13 and 14.
Loosen the lock washer of the steering arm nut.
12. Loosen and discard the steering arm nut.
- Discard the steering arm nut lock washer.
13. Using the special tool, remove the pitman arm from the steering gear.
Installation
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the steering arm and steering gear.

NOTE: Install a new nut and lock washer.
Install the steering arm to the steering gear.
- Install the lock washer.
- Loosen but do not fully tighten the steering arm nut.
3. Install the centering bolt in the steering gear.
4. Fix the steering arm in a suitable vise.
5. Tighten the steering arm nut to 176 Nm.
6. Secure the pitman arm nut with the lock washer.
7. Remove the steering gear from the vise.

NOTE: Install new bolts and lock washers.
With assistance, install the steering gear.
- Install lock washers.
- Insert and tighten the steering gear bolts to 65 Nm.
9. Secure steering gear bolts with lock washers.
10. Install the tie rod and connect to the steering gear.
- Install but do not tighten nuts and bolts.
11. Tighten the tie rod nut to the tie rod support bracket to 83 Nm.
12. Tighten the nuts and bolts securing the tie rod to the steering gear with a force of 85 Nm.
13. Attach the tie rod to the steering arm.
- Tighten the nut with 40 Nm.
- Install the pin.

NOTE: Install new nuts.
Install the diagonal rod.
- Tighten nuts and bolts to 230 Nm.

CAUTION: If power steering fluid comes into contact with the paintwork, the contaminated area should be washed immediately with cold water.
NOTE: Check O-ring. If there are signs of damage, install a new seal.
Connect the PAS supply line to the steering gear.
- Tighten to 20 Nm.

CAUTION: If power steering fluid comes into contact with the paintwork, the contaminated area should be washed immediately with cold water.
NOTE: Check O-ring. If there are signs of damage, install a new seal.
Connect the PAS return hose to the steering box.
- Tighten to 15 Nm.
17. Check up alignment and establish the lower shaft of a steering column on the steering mechanism.
- Install and tighten the lower steering column shaft bolt to 22 Nm.
18. Tighten the upper bolt of the lower shaft of the steering column with a force of 22 Nm.
19. Turn out a aligning bolt from the steering mechanism.
20. Prime the PAS system and bleed the system.
