Location of elements
Review
Since 2007, cars have been equipped with a new seating system. Adjustment of forward seats in the longitudinal plane and on an inclination is carried out manually. Some vehicles may have heated front seats. The heated front seats only work when the ignition is on.
The second row of seats is divided in a 60/40 ratio; these seats fold down to increase the amount of luggage space at the rear of the car. Cars Defender 110 with a body "station wagon" equipped with 2 third-row seats facing forward. The third row seats can be folded down and tucked away to increase cargo volume at the rear of the vehicle. For more information about folding the seats, see the Owner's Manual.
Work principles
Heated front seats
When the ignition switch is set to position II (ignition on), powered via central fuse box (CJB) goes to the winding of the power window relay. The ground loop of the relay winding is created by the left (LH) and right (RH) seat heating switches. Pressing any of the switches activates the relay and supplies battery voltage to the corresponding seat heating elements. Both seats are equipped with 2 heating elements: 1 in the seat cushion and 1 in the backrest; they are connected in series.
The heating elements in the front seat cushions are equipped with a thermostat. When the temperature of the heating element in the seat cushion reaches 37±3°C, the thermostat cuts off the power supply to the heating elements in the seat cushion and backrest. When the temperature of the heating element in the seat cushion drops below 28±3°C, the thermostat will re-energize both heating elements.
