Tailgate latch (Defender 2007+)

Removing

1. Remove the door trim panel.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Tailgate Trim Panel (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).

2. Bend back the plastic sheet in place to access the door latch.

3. Unhook the door handle drive rod from the latch assembly.

4. Disconnect the outer door handle drive rod from the latch assembly.

5. Disconnect the door lock button drive link from the latch mechanism.

6. Turn out 3 fixing screws and disconnect from a door a latch in gathering.

Installation

1. Install the latch assembly in the door and secure it with 3 screws, keeping in mind that the topmost screw is longer.

2. Connect the door handles to the latch mechanism by following instructions 3, 4 and 5 in reverse order.

3. Reseal the plastic sheet and install the door trim panel.
