Front door window glass (Defender 2007+)

Removing

1. Remove the front door reinforcement panel.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Front door reinforcement panel (501-03 Lockable body elements, Removal and installation).

2. Remove window regulator.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Power Window Motor and Front Door Window Motor (501-11 Glass, frames and mechanisms, Removal and installation).

3. Raise the glass to its highest position and support it with a block of suitable length.

4. Remove the 2 self-tapping screws securing the glass track on the latch side of the door and also remove one screw on the hinge side of the door.



5. Remove the outer seal from the door being careful not to damage the paint.



6. Remove the retaining bar and lower the glass down the door.


7. Release the guide from the glass on the side of the door hinge, lift the glass over the lower edge of the door and remove it.

Installation

1. Insert the glass into the guides at the angle shown in the figure.



2. When lifting the glass, place it straight into the rails, raise to the top position and insert the retaining bar.

3. Attach the hinge side guide with one screw, making sure the seal is in place.

4. Install the seal and secure the opposite rail with two screws. To prevent damage to the glass, make sure the heads of the three screws are under the bottom of the rails.

5. Position the window lifter in the glass lift slots.

6. Install the power window.

7. Install the front door reinforcement panel.
